Heyo, i'm no longer dedicating time to DA.
Full reasons are on my personal page.
Manly Men contest obviously is not running, massive thank you to the 0 people who donated prizes to the contest...
Will sort out new leader for group.
Ciao.

---EDIT----

OK, so i wrote that when I was extremely tired and extremely disappointed so I will clear a few things up.

I have been a part of the DA community for over 7 years now across two accounts, I have been part of DAC for almost 5 of those years.
Deviantart used to be a wonderful community that allowed artists to grow and gather meaningful interactions with other artists, sadly that is no longer the case. My work is being stolen left right and centre, and the community has become toxic and full of, excuse the term, Tumblrwhores who only wish to spout idiotic ideals and steal artwork that they can post on their "blogs".

Deviantart has also gone in a new direction with their target market, with a interesting new design and a underwhelming new logo.
Part of their new direction is appealing to corporations to build revenue through hosted/advertised contests that unfortunately have very "seedy" copyright and licensing rules.

Finally after putting in over $1800 into the site on contest donations alone and never asking for anything in return, the way some people address me, treat my work, demand gifts/views/exposure has made me realise that honestly i can't do much more for this community.
You may have noticed a lot of high profile artists on this site are leaving and the truth is, as professionals in our field (design/art/illustration/marketing) we really just don't have the time and resources to dedicate to a social media site which offers no meaningful benefits to our brands or work.

Ps: my experience is just that, my experience, there are many users out there that still find value in this site and still enjoy the community, however it is no longer for me.

Sincerely: The-Average-Alex aka Oprah

I totally agree. I often wonder what the hell am I still doing here after 8 years. Not sure if I stuck around for the simple fact I don't like my work to be everywhere but that's not the case since my work is everywhere on the web. I been looking around for other places but nothing yet.
